I’ve realised I’ve now started to write my posts like I write my tags. Short n sweet sentences, grammar optional, attitude in abundance. ANYWAY.
As per my last posts tags mentioned…. this is the 3rd life update, as I’ve clearly fallen behind in updating my many tumblr followers..(the 4 or so odd that may or may not read these dumb posts/tags) this is the final life update for today, not for life dw.
I am getting engaged soon, and because I know about said engagement, we ended up talking weddings. We found a venue we loved the look of and they happened to have an open day a few weeks ago.. so we went. More for a laugh and why not that anything serious. But we ended up loving it. So much that…
We booked it.
I booked my wedding venue. (AHHHHHHHH)
I’m getting married. (AHHHHHHHH)
I’m getting married on national bee day too!! Hazar! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)
In other news as previously mentioned in the tags of my last post.. I’m getting engaged soon. September somewhen. Yes I know. No it’s not a surprise. I’m an autistic fuck who would probably have a meltdown if that question was sprung on me when I wasn’t ready. We’ve already discussed it. My grandma gave me one of her rings for it. Well she gave it to my partner. And then I sat and redesigned the ring and he’s then taken it to a jeweller to be made. It won’t be ready till early September which sucks. But I am very excited to see what he has planned. That bit is still a surprise at least. Ahhhhh I’m adult, when did that happen?
Yes BUT. This specific desk is in a library so a parent that needs to use a library computer can do their work and have a little ease in managing their kiddo. In a library environment this is less productivity culture bullshit and more ‘oh this is a fantastic solution to a difficult situation library staff see 8 times a day’. Is it still productivity culture bullshit because this parent may not have affordable childcare or internet available to them? Yes. Am I glad it exists in a library environment to fill a demonstrated need? Hell yeah.
and keeps library staff from having to act as babysitters…
dear GOD we could use a couple of these. we keep crayons and coloring books on hand for the ones old enough for that, but the wee ones squirming and fussing in laps while the parents are fighting with job applications or convincing gmail’s current 2-step verification to let them in so they can print off a return label (both of which i have seen)? this would be SO NICE.
library groups have been loving this & are spreading the word & actively trying to purchase/create similar things in different systems
Hey, PSA for my fellow disabled people: UPS workers are trying to negotiate a new contract, and it looks like it’s leading to a strike soon. Now, I am absolutely all for this, they need safe working conditions and should strike if need be, but for us?
Please contact your doctors and make sure you’re prepared in any way possible. This will affect many of you, whether that’s through med deliveries, oxygen tanks, or other one-use supplies. If you live in America, try to get in contact with an insurance case worker for resources and advice if you’re able.
Stay safe, and hope that the precaution isn’t necessary.
One of my meds has to be delivered overnight UPS premiere gold refrigerated… time to call up the company and get this sorted.
I fully support the strike, because I’ve been following the development and the conditions they work under are truly egregious (I don’t know why OSHA hasn’t cracked down honestly), but I’ve also literally seen the drivers about to collapse in the heat. But it makes me furious how fragile our medical supply system is that one strike like this could literally be putting so many people in grave danger. That’s on the medical supply and shipping companies, not the UPS workers OR the medical providers.
the thing is this dashboard change isnt the end of the world ill get used to it whatever im just fucking dying of embarrassment that its supposed to look like twitter
twitter gets run over by a bus and the next day tumblr comes 2 school wearing her clothes like. oh my god come on
hey guys so apparently this is a thing a lot of people don’t realise but like. if you have had writer’s block/ art block for like. six months. a year. two years. that’s maybe not a block. that’s maybe depression. and you should maybe look into treating the source of the problem instead of just beating yourself up for not being able to write/draw. be kind to yourself and know that your struggle to create isn’t based in laziness or a lack of skill or talent.
You also do have like, a finite amount of energy. Especially creative and emotional energy.
The celebrate-the-grind stories where some famous artist held down two grueling part-time jobs to make ends meet and got by on four hours of sleep a night so they’d have time to write their novel or paint or whatever, so what’s your excuse are absolute bullshit. We should look at those about the same as we look at long-haul truckers doing a lot of amphetamines to handle driving for 16 hours a day or AAA game studios and crunch time.
So yeah, if your ability to make art has dried up, you really should take a good look at the underlying reasons and see if there’s maybe some self-care you need to be doing. The answer is pretty much never “laziness.”
